Author Thomas Ricks also makes an interesting point concerning the Iraqi WMD scavenger hunt that should have made news but did not, and would have vindicated Clinton, but did not.
In 1998 Clinton authorized Operation Desert Fox. It was mainly a cruise missile attack aimed at suspected Iraqi WMD development sites on a very large scale. Something like 485 missiles, more than fired in Gulf One.
The whole thing was attacked by the Repugs and their sound machine as an impeachment diversion.
Well, following our invasion and interviews of a hundred scientists, engineers, and countless inspections, the truth came out, and according to David Kay, the 1998 strikes had devestated what truly was a nascent WMD development program. The strikes were completely effective and Saddam's scientists gave up on everything other than rocket motor developments.
But did this ever come out in the media? of course not.
