Make The Right Choice, America

Willard Romney is one of the worst possible choices for President. Romney is in this race only for the reason the GOP had no other serious candidates in their Primary. Did you notice not one well known and well accepted Republican ran. The closest they got was Pawlenty and Huntsman. Neither of them stood a chance. The entire rest of their slate was filled with laughingstocks. The fact one laughingstock was also the governor of Texas only reflects badly on Texas, not on my premise. Romney was the only Primary candidate not running only to make a name, or some bizarre point.

Romney is the polar opposite of the direction this country must head. Romney represents nothing if not the further consolidation of wealth and power into fewer and fewer, but more powerful hands. This concentration of wealth, the greatest degree we've seen in many generations, has led to a government beholden only to the top 1% of America. A Romney presidency will most assuredly advance this concentration even further.

We the people are paying the price for this situation. The price is sure to go up, if Romney wins.

Do the right thing, America. Reelecting Barack Obama will not only keep us on a better path, but will deal a serious setback to the virtual oligarchy coming should we allow a Romney victory.

Obama's 2nd Term

A billion dollars may be spent by both sides in the Pres race. Congressmen must raise thousands every day, lest they fall short. Just the threat of a challenger well monied by special interest groups is enough to force members to vote a certain way. Money pervades the Capitol, and we all know it. Reform can never be broached in a serious manner by any Member or President. For one thing, their money would disappear. They would have no allies. They would be hypocrites if they did not immediately go broke. All this and more prevents reform. Except for one brief instance.

In a 2nd Term, a president could champion the cause of a Constitutional Amendment. The popular support is there for the picking and it would be a fairly simple manner to demonize those in opposition. Just look at where those bastards have gotten us with the old system would be the pitch. Think about it. Pushing this could even provide huge coattails for the mid-term. The Amendment could easily reach the States for ratification inside of 4 years and I predict it would be wildly popular. We haven't even seen an Amendment in generations. And this one would be a winner.

GOP 2012 Ace in the Hole

The GOP has two aces in the hole they yet may be able to use to capture the WH in 2012. Ace One is an economic downturn in the USA quite beyond the ability of the WH to control and quite to the liking of the GOP congress.

Ace Two involves Israel. Should Israel attack Iran and a protracted struggle of war ensues, the American GOP will clamor for US involvement. The US Israel Lobby wil kick into high gear, and a tear stained Netanyahu will draw more standing ovations from our Congress. At some point our forces will engage Iran and some losses will be the unavoidable result. Romney will scream bloody murder he must be our War President while waving his six shooters and thumping a Bible. America may elect a Reagan imitator.

Nuclear Paranoia

Achmadinejad is busy ramping up the paranoia level in Iran along with the nationalism trend for obvious reasons. One of which is remaining president. In the West our paranoia and nationalism are being ramped up for reasons far more complex and sinister. I say sinister because it is only us that pose a threat of war, not them. Complex, because not only are our own war-baiters wailing to kill thousands more Muslims wholly ignoring anything learned from Iraq (while also ignoring how Iraq would take the other side in this), but our close ally far closer to Iran is salivating to behead the only power challenge they face in the M.E. And although President Obama faces huge pressure from both our war agents, he obviously knows better and refuses to be the puppet W. Bush was.

The Fallacy of Today's Religious Right

“When Eternal Foregiveness awaits you Beyond, anything goes here.”
Lrobby99,
Sums up with those nine words the dialectical problem facing Christianity for 2000 years. If mere belief washes away ones sins, then “good works” become meaningless. Jesus taught a way of being in the Gospels, no matter how redacted, that had the ethical treatment of others as its basis. That was wisdom that could be used by all in the effort to make a better world. However, when the overlay of “Faith alone leads to redemption” wasexchanged for “good works”, than receiving ones’ “eternal reward” actually became a matter of good timing. One could live a truly monstrous life and if there was time on their deathbed, feel remorse, accept Jesus and go peacefully into Heaven. It is of course, just a little bit more complicated than that, but it certainly gives license to those who we might call somewhat less than enchanted by metaphysics, in order to rationalize their own bad behavior.

Romney and USA "back on track"

In my opinion, we are already as "back on track" as any Repub president would have us. Economy teetering, full tax cuts for the rich in place, war with muslims brewing, tuitions rising, poverty increasing, and now they can arrest and hold indefinitely any citizen they want to. Yup, back on track.

Financial crisis report released

Unconscionable greed on a personal level compounded by a complicit Fed, cronyism, hubris, avarice, and full knowledge a bailout would await them and their billion dollar bonuses were safe going forward. This is an incredible tale of suffering inflicted all across the USA by billionaires and their cohorts. That no one paid for their actions, their judgements, and that some remain in the Fed, is beyond despicable and one of the main reasons I lack any confidence in Obama to change a damn thing.
